Mapping Global Chicago

Mapping Global Chicago is a collaborative, interdisciplinary undergraduate research initiative investigating the idea of the “global city.” As a participant in the research lab, you will work with other students to develop this year’s research theme, drawing on your own interests and skills to produce public scholarship to be featured on the Mapping Global Chicago website.

This year, we will investigate the changing attitudes towards medical practice and care among members of the Tibetan diaspora community here in Chicago. We will consider how both long-term shifts and more recent events such as the COVID-19 pandemic have affected Tibetan Chicagoans' approach to Western and traditional Tibetan medicine and the practice of religion as it relates to well-being.

This course fulfills the Global Studies Major research activity requirement. You may also re-take this course for credit if you have previously participated.

Participation in the lab is by instructor consent only. To join the class, fill out this brief form. Interest forms will be reviewed on a rolling basis, and early submission is encouraged.
